In the warm embrace of Boa Vista, Brazil, atop a 120 meter high watch tower, where the sun kisses the horizon with a golden hue, and the Amazon’s whispers float in the air, one of the guest on Magic City’s Rupununi/Brazil Tour had planned the most memorable day of his life. He and his girlfriend, had embarked on a journey to experience the Rupununi of Guyana and the enchanting city of Boa Vista, Brazil. Little did she know, long before they boarded the tour bus in Georgetown he had a surprise up his sleeve, one that would forever change the course of their lives.
After spending the first day of their tour visiting the Moco-Moco and Kumu Waterfalls in the Rupununi, it was now day 2 where the group would visit Boa Vista Brazil. The adventure began with breakfast at the hotel in Lethem after which they boarded the bus and proceeded to cross the Takutu Bridge over to Brazil. While touring Boa Vista the group marveled at the lively streets, shopping centers and the colorful murals that adorned the city walls. But his mind was on the grand finale, a moment he had meticulously planned for months.
After visiting a few shopping malls they found themselves at Parque do Rio Branco, one of the highlights and attractions of BoaVista, featuring the amazing Edileusa Lóz lookout towerwhich is 120 meters high overlooking the entire city. His plan was to make his move when they get to the top of the tower after all, there’s no better place in the city to pop the big question.
Completely distracted by the amazing views and enchanted by the beauty of it all, her eyes sparkling with joy and wonder. She turned to him, her smile wide and bright, totally unaware of the life-altering moment that was about to unfold.
Right after getting her to take a pic of him as she went closer to show him the pic she had taken he took her hands in his, looking into her eyes, which reflected the Brazil sun in its glory. Calling her name he began, his voice steady but filled with emotion, “from the moment I met you, I knew my life had changed forever. You are my best friend, my soulmate, and my greatest adventure. With you, every day is a journey I never want to end.”
Her heart raced as she listened, a mixture of surprise and anticipation washing over her. His gaze never leaving hers. “I want to spend the rest of my life with you, exploring not just the Rupununi but the world with you, facing challenges together, and celebrating every victory. Repeating her name again he asked, Will you marry me?”
All of Boa-Vista and the rest of the world seemed to stand still as she processed the moment, her eyes brimming with tears of happiness. The beauty of Boa Vista, the view from the tower, the radiant sunset—all of it faded into the background as she focused on the man before her, her heart overflowing with love.
“Yes, a thousand times yes!” she exclaimed, throwing her arms around him. Everyone present cheered for them.
As they returned to Lethem and then Georgetown after their tour, it was clear that this tour was one that they both would remember and cherish for the rest of their lives.
